Research on connection

Dimsocial gives adults ways to meet people, talk and build friendships through shared interests. Loneliness motivates this work; it is not a label we assign to users.

These selected sources inform the design. They do not establish that Dimsocial reduces loneliness. This is not an exhaustive or continuously updated review.

What trials tell us about digital support

Systematic review of seven randomized trials, 580 participants; search through August 2024

The pooled effect was small and statistically nonsignificant. The interventions differed, and the evidence included few trials.

Questions can give a conversation a starting point

Experimental procedure studying short-term interpersonal closeness

The researchers studied structured, reciprocal disclosure between people.

This study does not show that this app's optional questions create lasting friendship or reduce loneliness. Dimsocial does not reproduce the study's question list.
